Summer Beauty

I have a longing for color!  The trees here in NC are bare and everything is drab.  In the north, we would have a fresh blanket of snow on the ground by now creating a splendid unifying brightness.   I used to love the reflected light that would dance around the inside of my house - the drapes pulled back to allow as much as wanted to come in.  But here in NC, everything is so dull - the air is crisp and refreshing, but I have to get used to this "new" climate.  If you are interested in images of the above, please click HERE.  Thank you.

  1. have you heard of Georgia O'Keefe ? oh its double 'f' i checked, O'Keeffe. have a book of her plates. You have a riot of colours here.

we have 365 days of sunshine here in india. And we just keep complaining about the heat and ignore the splendour and wealth of the sun. You grab it with both hands, its so precious to you Margaret. Every season has its own charm.

  2. Thank you. I have treasured books by O'Keefe, thank you for mentioning her. I have lived in the south now for a little over a year (North Carolina) and the summer heat, even though expected, was a bit shocking to experience day after day. The seasons do change here in NC, just not as radically as they do in Michigan.

  3. Gosh, I sure know what you mean! It is cold, bare, and very drab here in Kansas right now too. We went from beautiful splashes of Fall color to "this" in a hurry. Nothing to photograph right now that would make an outstanding picture. A glistening white snowfall will transform everything in a hurry--just don't know when it will come. Poinsettias are about the only bright spot of color at the moment. Oh yes, your daughter's drawing of Santa was excellent--she has inherited your talent.
